The first thing I want for this project is to inject humor into it. I find this short-form content to be ripe for a sort of punch-line where you defy expectations by pulling the rug out from what the reader thinks will happen. More so than this I want to entice the reader to re-read the zine with the context of the punchline and find more humor in earlier pages. In terms of the actual content, my first reaction is to go philosophical, and incorporate universal feelings about meaninglessness with perhaps a silver-lining approach on the side (if it fits the topic). I want such “deep philosophical” topics to be hidden under irony and metaphors however, and the images/story provided should be light and easy to digest in nature, hiding the darker ideas underneath. Seizing the means of producing said art (Photoshop or Procreate), I hope to further the meaning of the zine by contrasting different aspects of certain ideas I might try to approach with the project.
